SINGAPORE – A zebra crossing in Circular Road that appears to be blocked by barricades on both sides is removed as planned from the intersection as the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Sunday (August 19).
LTA responded to an online circulating photo that showed barricades across the zebra crossing before it was moved. The photo had caused confusion for some users of social media.
The zebra crossing was according to BK Eating House, according to the photo.
In a Facebook post, LTA clarified that the much shared photo only showed part of the photos. the work that was done.
"The barricade was first set up, while the original cross was removed in the early hours to minimize the impact for motorists and nearby stallholders," LTA said, adding that the work was completed in a day.
The authority said it planned to move the zebra crossing from the crossroads to make traffic smoother and make it safer for pedestrians.
"We value the feedback from the audience because we continue with a safer and more convenient transport system for everyone," added LTA.
