Program to recruit scouts starts in Marsiling, Singapore News & Top Stories

A new grassroots program has been launched to recruit more boys and girls to become scouts.

The three-year Scouting @ Marsiling program aims to reach 300 young people from all walks of life in 2020. It already has 200 scouts.

Marsiling is one of the first constituencies in which the Singapore Scout Association cooperates with other departments in the North West District that are likely to follow, said a member of parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC, Mr. Zaqy Mohamad, who is also a Marsiling Department advisor. .

Scouts plan community service projects that help the Marsiling community. They also participate in weekly activities that stimulate self-development and character development.

Yesterday, President Halimah Yacob, who is also Chief Scout of Singapore, signed an agreement with Marsiling grassroots organizations to set up the program.

Madam Halimah was previously the MP for Marsiling ward in Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC.

Sharing the inspirational story of a young man with cerebral palsy who was able to complete polytechnic and find a job because of many helping hands, Madam Halimah said that the underlying goal of the program is to combine the power of a community emphasize.

"It is not the strongest or the strongest that progresses, but everyone, because we support each other."
