Roads around Marina Center will be closed for F1 Grand Prix of Singapore



SINGAPORE: Roads around the Marina Center area will be closed for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Formula 1 Singapore Airlines for seven days next month, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Tuesday (August 21) in its press release.

The closure from 12 September at 12.01 am is to enable the layout of the racing infrastructure. The release says that all roads are fully accessible on September 18 at 5.30 am.

This year, more roads will gradually reopen to allow better access to traffic, LTA said.

During this period the road corridors are open at certain hours:

Those who drive, with the exception of buses and vehicles with W, X, Y-plates, have access to the Marina Center via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via the Nicoll Highway at the following times:

  • September 12 to September 14, 10 am to 5 pm and 10 pm to 6 pm
  • 15 September to 16 September, midnight to 13 hours
  • 17 September, midnight to 6 am, 10 am to 5 pm, 10 pm to 6 am

Taxis can use the single-lane access at all times, except racing days, LTA added.

Motorists will also be able to enter the Marina Center area via Temasek Bolevard from Rochor Road (after leaving ECP) ​​during the day.

There are traffic controllers on site to guide traffic and help the public, while direction signs are also placed in the area.

Parking garages in shopping centers, including Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square, also remain open.

MRT TRAIN SERVICES EXTENDED

The opening times of MRT train services will be extended on racing days, from 14 September to 15 September, and selected feeder buses will also be extended to match the latest train services.

On 14 September and 15 September, train services will be available at the City Hall station until 12.30.

On 16 September the train services at the station will continue until 12.45.

In the meantime, free shuttle buses are available between the station of Lavender and Gate 1 of the race track.
