SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said Saturday (Nov. 28) that it had arrested 87 suspected drug offenders during an island-wide operation conducted between Nov. 23 and 27.
Drugs seized during surgery included 1,118g Ice, 764g Heroin, 149g Cannabis, 1g Ketamine, 1,415g New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), 77 Ecstasy Pills, 155 Erimin-5 Tablets, Two LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) stamps and five bottles and a pack of liquid believed to be liquid methamphetamine.
“The drugs seized are estimated to be worth nearly S $ 400,000,” said CNB. “The youngest to be arrested in this islandwide operation is a 16-year-old Singaporean man suspected of abusing drugs.”
The operation took place in areas such as Aljunied, Boon Lay and Buangkok.
DRUGS HIDDEN IN PACKAGING FOR SKIN CARE PRODUCTS
In one case on Nov. 23, CNB agents arrested four people near Sumang Lane and Pasir Panjang Road.
A 39-year-old Singaporean man was arrested in the Sumang Lane area, and a 46-year-old woman, a permanent resident of Singapore, was detained when she returned to the man’s home on the same estate.

A search was made and a total of 15 packages containing approximately 339 g of ice, seven ecstasy tablets and 90 Erimin-5 tablets were removed from the unit, CNB said.
The raid on the housing unit also seized the five bottles and a pack of suspected liquid methamphetamine hidden in the packaging of skin care products.

“In a follow-up operation, CNB agents raided an industrial unit near Pasir Panjang Road and arrested a 47-year-old Singaporean man and a 28-year-old female alien,” CNB said.
“A total of 0.1 g of Ice and 60 Erimin-5 tablets were seized from the 47-year-old man, and approximately 1 g of Ice was later recovered at his home near Balestier Road.”
TWO CHILDREN PRESENT DURING ARRESTS
In another case, also on November 23, two men and two women between 19 and 29 years old were arrested in a housing unit in the Lengkok Bahru neighborhood. They are all Singaporeans.
A total of six packages containing approximately 3 g of ice were recovered in the unit.
Two young children were present at the arrests, who are now being taken into custody by a next of kin.
“The 5-year-old son of the 26-year-old woman, and the 4-month-old son of the 19-year-old woman were also present at the arrest,” said CNB.
“Preliminary investigation showed that the 19-year-old woman brought her 4-month-old baby to visit the ward, and later abused drugs along with the 29-year-old man and 26-year-old man in the ward.”

STORAGE HIDDEN BEHIND FALSE WALL
In a third case, on Nov. 26, CNB agents arrested three Singaporeans – two men and a woman – between 24 and 25 years old near Edgefield Plains.
One of the suspects was found in hiding in a hidden pantry and was arrested after a battle.

“While searching the unit, CNB agents discovered a storage area behind a false wall. Officers quickly moved in and arrested a 25-year-old Singaporean man hiding in the warehouse.
“The (man) had done his best to resist his arrest, and violence was used to subdue him.”

In addition to 631 g of ice, 113 g of cannabis and 16 ecstasy tablets, agents also seized S $ 25,393 in cash from the unit.
“Investigation into the drug activities of all arrested suspects is underway,” said CNB.
