Whether an insurer performs a precautionary check or not is his decision.
Bratislava, 26 August (TASR) – If they want to save money in 2019, they have to watch a dentist preventatively in this calendar year. This is reminded by health insurers.
"In order for a health insurance company to be able to pay back a standard examination, it must be insured with a health insurance company and can not be included in the debtor list." Debtors are legally only entitled to reimbursement of emergency healthcare " said Déver Matej Štepianský, a specialist in the health insurance company Dôvera.
Whether an insurer performs a precautionary check or not is his decision. "To pay nothing, nothing is valid, but the rule is that if he needs dental treatment in the coming year, the health insurer will not pay him," Štěpianský pointed out.
Advantages fully reimbursed on the basis of public health insurance, a standard, include first aids for toothache, dental fillings of standard materials, caries removal, X-ray examinations, extraction and dental resection.
"If the patient does not take a preventive check-up at a dentist this year, he / she will pay dental caries in the next calendar year, in which case the patient pays a sum of more than 20 euros for one tooth, depending on tooth decay, use of the material and possible anesthesia. " TASR was approached by Viktória Vasilenková, spokesperson for the State Insurance Company.
For example, VZZP includes seals of above-normal material, dental bridges and crowns or jaw orthopedics. Vasilenkova also explained that performances partially covered by the patient's participation or not covered by public health insurance are mandatory for the doctor to place on the price card, which must be placed in a visible location in a medical facility – an ambulance. The doctor must inform the insurer of the method of reimbursement.
For the future, the state insurer does not exclude the increase in the oral hygiene contribution so far. "The VŠZP pays a dental hygiene fee of 50 percent from the payment of up to 30 EUR for the oral hygiene of a child between the ages of six and eighteen," she added.
The Health Insurance Trust offers its insurers a new benefit. "Those who have been with us for more than a year will attend the most common dental procedures with an amount of EUR 100, the other EUR 50," Štepianský said.
Union Health Insurance Union said that if the dental preventive check did not take place in the previous calendar year, the insured person will pay the permanent dental crowns from 8.24 euros to 24.72 euros in the current calendar year.
The policyholders have the option to pay a contribution of 100 euros for dental care and oral hygiene. "With this step we want to help all insurers to reduce the financial burden of dental care in the form of dental supplements," added Elena Májeková from Union ZP for TASR.
Health insurers emphasize that better dental quality benefits good nutrition. Experts therefore advise to restrict sweetened drinks, to consume raw vegetables and fruit.
