The Ministry of Education is likely to have to pay a fine of 790 thousand euros in connection with the Infovek project. Martina Lubyova, head of the SNS, confirmed after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"We received a decision of a fine of 790,000 euros when a contract was signed in 2015, Minister Draxler, who instead of competing, was made through direct negotiations and so on with the supplier to Telecom," she asked M. Lubyová.
The resort may not appeal. "It is at the legality stage," she said, while the law examined the situation. "But it seems that the fine is inevitable, and we're unlikely to get rid of it," she said.
A contract of one million dollars
In 2010, the Ministry of Education signed a contract with Slovak Telekom for Infovek 2, with the subject of offering the internet. In September 2015, the resort signed a contract with Slovak Telekom to extend the project by one year, with a total of EUR 5.7 million excluding VAT.
"The reason for the conclusion of the contract was the fact that the new connection provider had not been canceled at that time. The tendering procedure for the new connection provider and thus the public call for tender on Edunet_SK was announced in December 2015. As the public tender for the Edunet SK project was not completed at the time, the ministry signed a contract with Slovak Telekom in September 2016, which extended the Infovek 2 project until the end of the implementation of the Edunet_SK project, "the ministry recently stated.
In May of this year, the Procurement Authority (IVO) found a violation of the law when revising the contract for the extension of the Infovek 2 project and the Ministry should have rejected this project. The reason for the violation of the law was the non-compliance with the conditions for the use of the direct negotiation procedure.
"Among other things, there is a big chance that the IAB will impose a fine on the ministry for an offense of five percent of the contract price for the duration of the contractual relationship, up to about 650 thousand euros", said the ministry of education at the end of June. The administrative procedure for imposing a fine on the administrative offense was initiated by the IBA at the ministry on 20 June.
