This year, August is probably one of the hottest in the Slovak Republic since 1961. In its Facebook profile is mentioned by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ).
However, it indicates that this is a preliminary assessment, what may change due to cooling in the coming days.
Warm weather, which has been taking place since the end of July, called meteorologists "almost unprecedented". For example, at Hurbanova station the maximum daily temperature for 32 days at least 25 degrees Celsiusof which 29 days were even higher than 30 degrees Celsius.
From the beginning of August on most stations a maximum of one day with an average daily air temperature was lower than the long-term average. "The absolute highest average air temperature in the period from 1 to 21 August is still in the Žihárci, up to 26 degrees Celsius," adding meteorologists.
The hottest August to date was August August 1992 in August 2015, in the eastern part of August. At least since 1961, because the SHMU has the necessary data.
