Chinese SUV with Tesla technology goes on sale. It is less than 30,000 €

Xiaopeng Motors, a Chinese electrified startup, launched the Xpeng G3 SUV. This car is interesting because it was made just after Tesla had made his patents available. They do not want to be inspired by Tesla and her patents.

The Xpeng G3 electric SUV was given the nickname "Tesla Clone" during development. Not only because many of the design elements of the exterior and interior are inspired by Tesla Model X. Under the "bonnet" technology should also be hidden from Tesla.

However, it did not get the Chinese start-up by industrial espionage, but a legal way because Tesla has shared its patents as open source since 2014. Elon Musk said on this occasion that Tesla would not sue anyone who would use his patents in good faith and use them to develop electromobility.

His words were taken to heart by auto engineer Henry Xia and founded by Xiaopeng Motors. However, we do not know which technology and or the Chinese startup at all. However, it is recalled that their battery module is very similar to that of Tesla.

Indisputable inspiration by Model X …

In any case, the design inspiration is quite clear for the Xpeng G3. As far as the appearance is concerned, it is no longer as distinctive as the prototypes. Inside, however, we find a similar, large, vertically oriented touch screen or strikingly a digital instrument panel with a familiar user interface or a panoramic windshield and a "Big Sky" with the same awning solution.

… but not in terms of parameters

However, what is no longer comparable with Tesla Model X is the specification. In this respect it is a "chopper". The Xpeng G3 has a power of 145 kW and a torque of 300 Nm. The manufacturer offers an interesting acceleration value of 3.8 seconds, but varies from 0 to 50 km / h.

Interesting "attitude" Xiaopeng Motors also chose to inform about the crash, which is in an inaccurate, outdated, "optimistic" NEDC cycle. Both offered batteries with unknown capacity offer virtually identical trips. And it is 351, respectively. 365 km (NEDC).

Even "Autopilot" and a fractional price

The Xpeng G3 also has a number of sensors that allow partial autonomous control. His development is responsible for Junli Gu, who previously worked in Tesla on the Autopilot system.

The "G-Trio" is therefore a "cutter" compared to Model X, but it is also a much cheaper electric SUV. His prize starts at around € 29,000.
