Is it possible to make a good night shot with the phone?

If you think that a serious termination of the phone ends when it is dark, you are wrong. With the help of lens systems and background assistance algorithms, the biggest phone brands, of which Huawei is undoubtedly the leader, have achieved the effects of night photography, which we only dreamed about a few years ago.

So modern technology, which is usually the home of telephones, offers amazing results, especially when shooting at night. You do not have to be a professional and you do not need a pile of photo equipment for a good night photo. It is enough to choose the right phone.

Leica triple camera, stabilization and different shooting modes

In the field of photography and video recording, Huawei took, in the new Mate 20 Pro, the basis of the camera system of the Huawei P20 series and upgraded it with an ultra wide-angle lens of 16 mm. This makes it possible to capture a broader perspective of the environment and to add space and a three-dimensional effect to the photos. The new camera system also supports macro photography or a photograph of nearby shots, allowing sharp objects to be recorded even when they are only 2.5 centimeters from the lens.

Also note that Mate 20 Pro has optical stabilization. In addition, Mate 20 Pro also uses artificial-intelligence stabilization, where the effects of shaking hands artificially eliminate the processor and therefore the device works perfectly in poor light conditions.

The phone works perfectly both during the day and during the night and has a lot of different shooting modes. From portrait photography and monochrome photography to professional photography and night photography. In particular, it is worth mentioning the HiVision functionality, which works on the basis of artificial intelligence, and serves to identify the objects in which you aim the camera. This way it can simultaneously translate text, find a certain object online, read the QR code and even estimate the number of calories of a particular food. With the active HiVision function, the device points into an apple, it will show you on the screen for which fruit it is and gives information about the number of calories it has.

The phone automatically detects low light

The camera has been working on the same principle for decades. A shutter is opened between the lens and the sensor, which opens the light of the recording device briefly depending on the exposure time. There are no shutter phones, so no typical "click". It also does not bark to a variable aperture. The system simply activates the sensor when needed.

The absence of a shutter in combination with a relatively small sensor and a lot of computing power makes it possible for the phone something that is simply not carried out in classic cameras. For a long time we have advanced systems that make ten or even fifteen photos with different exposures at once and merge them into the final photo with a much better dynamic range than the sensor and the lens allow. Various adjustments to calculate the depth, compete by removing the background by offering a large open diaphragm to a large sensor.

If you use a classic camera for a long time, for example a few seconds, it should be placed on a stand, close the aperture, and so on. The device captures a single clip. Mate 20 Pro uses this time differently. Just like a camera, it extracts extra light, but it photographs and analyzes all the time, and finally merges it into a photograph that is much brighter than the normal way.

Huawei has also transferred its special night mode to Mate 20 Pro. When the user presses the "trigger" in this mode, the phone determines the time of collecting light based on its calculations. During this time the phone must be kept in peace. Yes, you read that right. Keep it. The standard is not necessary because, as mentioned earlier, the stabilization can ruin the typical handshake. However, the user can also shorten the opening time of the aperture if the image appears clear enough.
