The government decided to compensate the municipalities for the removal of deferred illegal waste from illegal border crossings, the costs for the removal of this waste, in accordance with a regulation that establishes the methodology for pricing for services of mandatory public utilities of environmental protection.
During his last correspondence session, the government decided that the reimbursement of waste disposal costs would be coordinated and implemented by the government office for the care and integration of migrants.
The costs can be reimbursed on the basis of information from the police who, when determining the location and type of waste, indicate that the waste originated as a result of illegal border crossings and a request from the municipality that is duly substantiated and documented.
The reimbursement of costs will therefore be carried out by the Cabinet, if it has doubts about the indicative amount, the type of waste and the amount of the claim of the municipality, it will turn to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning to confirm the payment . The government will provide financial resources for the disposal of such illegally disposed waste by allocating resources to the general budget provision.
The problems with the dumped waste have long been mentioned, especially in the municipalities along the border with Croatia. These are broken clothing and other waste left by foreigners who cross the border illegally. Municipalities have extra costs due to cleaning.
