BUDAPEST. West Nile Fever viruses infected up to 16 people in Hungary last week, the highest number in the European Union.
This was reported on Tuesday's Internet edition of the weekly Heti Világgazdaság, referring to data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Greece has infected 15, 8 in Romania and 2 people in Croatia. They reported 24 diseases from countries outside the EU, all patients are from Serbia.
This year, the number of patients with the disease in Hungary 39 did not reach a disease yet.
In Serbia, 11 patients died in West English fever, four in Greece, three in Italy and one victim in Kosovo and Romania.
Reserve viruses from West Nile Fever are wild birds. The lender is a culex mosquito. Man is infected after digestion. Infection can also develop with organ transplantation or blood transfusion.
