The Christian Democrats are the smallest party on the Riksdag. The party received 4.5 percent of the votes in the last elections in 2014. A new survey shows that about 3.5 percent wants to vote for the Christian Democrats this year. But you have to get 4 percent to be in parliament.
The Christian Democrats are conservative party, with Christian values. Health care, childcare and care for the elderly are important questions for the Christian Democrats.
The Christian Democrats want it lower the number of children in each group in the kindergarten. It is better for the children, says the Christian Democrats. The party wants a rule that each group can not have more than 12 children. Then the families have to pay a little more every month for the kindergarten.
The party leader Ebba Busch Thor says that it is of course not nice that it will be more expensive. But she believes that many parents want to pay more for the children to have smaller groups in kindergarten.
"It is clear that it is not fun to go to the choice of increased costs, but I know, I know, there are so many parents who are willing to pay something to know that their children are being seen in kindergarten, "said Ebba Busch Thor.
Sweden is divided into 20 district councils. They are governed by politicians voted by the people. The provincial council is responsible for healthcare in Sweden. But the Christian Democrats think that the state should be given the lead over health care instead.
Receive people in different district councils different care. It is not right, think the Christian Democrats. Ebba Busch Thor says that health care becomes fairer when the state is in charge.
"It's important to me: how do we achieve equal care," says Ebba Busch Thor.
The Christian Democrats want Sweden to do that producing more electricity with nuclear energy. Sweden has three nuclear power plants. But less and less electricity comes from nuclear power in Sweden.
The plan is to close more of it Swedish nuclear energy. But the Christian Democrats have long wanted a reconstruction of nuclear power plants. And that would be good with more nuclear power plants. Most other parties do not like it.
The Christian Democrats think of nuclear energy is a good way to get environmentally friendly electricity. There is also environmentally friendly electricity from wind energy, solar energy and hydropower. But that is not enough, says Ebba Busch Thor.
"We can already see that wind energy is not enough to redesign the basic industry, for example, then nuclear energy is needed, says Ebba Busch Thor.
The government has changed the immigration law in 2016 fewer people can get asylum in Sweden. The Christian Democrats want the hard laws to continue. But they want it to be easier to get their family here.
Ebba Busch Thor thinks it's important that children can be reunited with their families.
"We will most likely have to pursue a strict immigration policy in the future, but it can not be said that small children can not be reunited with their families, says Ebba Busch Thor.
The Christian Democrats work together with the moderates, The Center Party and the Liberals of the Alliance Group. Alliance parties are in the government from 2006 to 2014. The Alliance wants to take over the government again after the elections.
But it is not certain that the Christian Democrats will get that remain in parliament after the elections. A party must receive at least 4 percent of the votes to be admitted. In a new survey, 3.5 percent say they want to vote for the Christian Democrats right now. That would not be enough.
