Denner leaves as a customer: Groba runs 75 jobs

Grossbaeckerei Groba AG sells more than half of its jobs. Now that the largest customer of the company leaves, 60 employees at the Brüttisellen ZH and Bern sites lose their jobs. In addition, 15 employees of external logistics companies lose their jobs.

Three quarters less turnover

Groba AG's largest customer wants to focus more and more on baking frozen dough pieces in the future and has therefore not extended its delivery contract with the fresh bakery, as the company announced today evening at night. Groba therefore expects about 75 percent less turnover.

According to the commuter newspaper "20 Minutes" the most important customer is the discounter Denner. A Denner spokesman justifies why people now place more emphasis on fried dough pieces: "The advantage is that we can respond with so much flexibility to daily demand and prevent food waste."

25 million franc turnover

A consultation procedure has been initiated in connection with the planned job reductions. Most job reductions will be implemented by the end of 2018.

At the beginning of the year, the company employed 115 people. The turnover in recent years averaged between 20 and 25 million francs in sales. (SDA)
