After initial superficial observations, civil engineers and structural engineers came to the conclusion that for safety reasons the entry of the affected properties and the associated courtyard is still "not responsible". This was announced by the prosecutor, the cantonal police and the Zurich police.
As a result, the clarification of the cause of the fire on site can only be continued if the construction crane has been severely damaged by the fire in the courtyard and has been replaced by another crane.
New findings in a few weeks
Because of this situation, the public prosecutor, the city and the cantonal police Zurich and the owners can not give any further information about the fire incident until further notice. The investigation of investigators from the Zurich city police and the firefighters is only running at full speed in the background. New findings can be expected at the earliest "in a few weeks or months".
In the immediate vicinity of the central station, an empty building complex had gone up in flames early on Saturday morning. The big fire caused enormous damage. The outer shell of the building could already be secured from the inside in the initial phase, so that in the public space on the next day there was no danger of falling debris.
