Under the leadership of Bergbahnen Flumserberg AG, a rescue company is ready to reopen the resort, which went bankrupt about a year ago, on Lake Walen.
With the founding of the new company, Marina Walensee AG quickly comes back to life at the Walensee resort, according to the Flumserberg AG (BBF) mountain railways on Tuesday. The new company will be supported by various regional investors together with the BBF.
The mountain railways had agreed with Bank Linth to sell the property of the bankrupt company Walensee Resort AG for free. In the future, the BBF wants to play an active role in the operation of Marina Walensee AG, according to the statement.
First of all, the hotel will start in the coming winter as Bed & Breakfast with 107 beds. The restaurant could then open in the spring of 2019. From autumn 2019 the complete operation of the factory is planned.
Still pending is the approval of the bankruptcy administration used by the canton St. Gallen for the free hand sale.
The Walensee Resort with a hotel and 18 holiday homes is located on a peninsula on Lake Walen, on the former site of a cement factory. Built for 80 million francs, the facility includes a sports hall, swimming pool, shops, restaurants, bars and a port. Nine years after the opening, the Walensee Resort in Unterterzen was about to be closed in September 2017.
