(SDA) A 66-year-old hiker died in a fatal accident on Saturday afternoon in the Stanserhorn. According to the first findings, he collapsed 250 meters into the depth. The alarmed rescue workers could only determine his death.
The man rode in a group of 15 on the south side of the Stanserhorn when he left the trail in the area "Ober Chneu" of the community Dallenwil for unknown reasons. As a result, he slipped 250 meters over steep slopes, where he suffered fatal injuries.
Despite promptly triggered searches, members of the Alpine Rescue Switzerland could only kill the man. The victim is a 66-year-old from outside the border, as the canton police Nidwalden writes in a Sunday message.
