Al-Ittihad newspaper – 19 people were suffocated by the burning of a tower in Ajman

The civil protection personnel in Ajman have successfully extinguished a fire in the climate chamber of a residential tower on the Ajman Corniche.
The Civil Defense teams were able to evacuate the entire population of the building with the participation of fire departments, the support of the Ajman police, the National Assistance, the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, the charity organization and the Red Crescent.
Brigadier General Abdulaziz Ali Al Shamsi, Director General of the Ministry of Civil Protection, said that the Ajman civil protection platform yesterday received a notification that there was a fire in one of the residential towers on the Ajman Corniche.
He explained that the fire broke out in the climate room on the 26th floor and caused the incineration of air conditioners and the spread of smoke on the same floor and various other parts of the tower, causing 19 people to be suffocated as a result of inhalation of smoke. 13 cases were treated by a simple national ambulance at the site. The incident brought five moderate cases of elderly and a child to the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan hospital for treatment.
He stressed that the fire was checked immediately after the arrival of the teams and prevented them from reaching the rest of the tower, adding that the site was handed over to the competent authorities for the rest of the procedures and the return of the normal status to complete the residential tower.
Al-Shamsi demanded the owners of commercial residential towers to meet the requirements of preventive safety in order to prevent the occurrence of fires and to preserve the safety of the residents.
The charity has participated in providing logistical support to the victims of the fire by insuring the withdrawal of the families in collaboration with the Ajman police and the Ministry of Civil Protection in Ajman, according to Dr Khaled Al-Khaja, Executive Director of the authority.
