Shoppers flee Bristol supermarket amid reports of machete attack



Customers have been told how they have fled from a large Bristol Tesco superstore, amid reports that a man was stabbed twice with a machete & # 39 ;.

Ambulance and police rushed to the busy supermarket on the M32 after 999 calls came in the chaos.

Our sister title Bristol Live received several reports of a serious incident and customers contacted social media to speak of an attack in the store in Eastville.

Eyewitness Andy Baxter wrote on Twitter: "I would avoid Tesco Eastville, the man stabbed at least two after a complete brawl in the aisle, scary things – I went in for chicken only."

One woman wrote on Facebook: "A fight broke out in the hallway between a group of guys the moment somebody waved people with a machette.

"One man had a head and arm injury and was taken to hospital, which leads to Tesco, the parking garage, garage and store all at closure."

Alexandra Dimmock added: "Adrenaline is still pumping for me, dropping my shopping basket and running with a crowd was surreal … Not sure if it has reached the media yet, it is Friday, Bristol, everyone in the pub ?! "

Several took the social media to thank the staff and a woman said they helped her when she was terrified. Another woman said she had fled through fire doors.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called after 18:30 for an attack on Eastgate, Eastville Tesco, two men were injured and taken to hospital.

"Their injuries are serious but are not considered to be life-threatening.

"This is supposed to be an isolated incident – one man has been arrested. & # 39;
