Manchester United summer signing Fred has unveiled the role that Arsenal big Gilberto Silva played in his move to Old Trafford.
The Brazilian international was one of the three signing sessions that Jose Mourinho made earlier this summer and United defeated the tough competition because of his signature.
After an impressive season in Shakhtar Donetsk, the 25-year-old attracted a lot of attention from a number of top clubs in Europe, and he spoke with his representative for advice on his next career path.
Fred has revealed how Gilberto Silva, a title winner at Arsenal, praised the professional attitude at United and convinced his compatriot to move to Old Trafford in search of his own Premier League dream.
"Gilberto was a top midfielder who played for Arsenal," Fred told manutd.com. "But he has great respect for Manchester United, which is clearly a big club here in England
"He praised the club a lot and when he got the chance to speak with Jose Mourinho and other seniors at United, we decided to come here together and decided that it would be a good move for me.
"Gilberto is a top man and his advice means a lot to me, he played in the same position as me and he won the Premier League, so I look at him for inspiration, I listen to what he has to say and I take aboard what he tells me. "
