A large Ukrainian bank suspended operations with payment cards / Novoe Vremya

On Wednesday, August 22, all transactions with Alfa Bank debit cards will be temporarily unavailable.

"Today, during the day, all transactions with payment cards, as well as internet banking My Alfa-Bank and mobile application Alfa-Mobile Ukraine will be temporarily unavailable," stated Alfa-Bank.

This is due to the fact that The bank is launching a new card processing center (processing center), which should expand the capabilities of cardholders and speed up their maintenance.

At the same time, Alfa-Bank will fully restore the activity of cards and other services at the end of the day.

Alfa-Bank (until January 2001 – Kyiv Investment Bank) was founded in 1993. The shareholders of the financial institution are ABH Ukraine Limited (Cyprus holds 90.1% of the shares) and the international investment fund MSP Stiftung (Liechtenstein, 9.9 %).

The owner of ABH Ukraine Limited through ABH Holdings is in turn the resident of Lviv Mikhail Fridman (32.9%) and the resident of Kiev Herman Khan (almost 21%), who is currently Israeli citizens and lives in London, as well as Alexei Kuzmichev – 16.3%, Peter Aven – 12.4%, Andrei Kosogov – 3.7% (all Russian citizens living in Moscow), UniCredit SpA (Italy) – 9.9% and The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research ( Caymanovs Islands) – 3.9%.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Alfa-Bank held the eighth place (58 billion UAH) in terms of assets as of 1 January 2018 and Ukrsotsbank, its sister company, was the seventh (58.3 billion UAH) among 84 operating banks.
