The German car manufacturer Volkswagen finally announced the official name of its first electric car from the ID line. and opened the pre-orders and announced the costs.
Previously known under the VW ID code. and the VW Neo electric hatchback is called ID.3. With the number "three", the makers emphasized that they belonged to the compact class (the third in the main category of the C-segment), as well as their own belief that the model will become the third most important milestone in the brand's history after the iconic models Beetle and Golf.
In addition, Volkswagen representatives explained that other concepts of the VW ID: Family, including ID. CROZZ, ID. VIZZION and ID. ROOMZZ also receives "numbered" designations, that is, you would expect ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, etc. to appear. Volkswagen plans to become the number 1 brand in the electric car segment by 2025, selling more than 20 clean electric cars and more than 1 million such models every year.
As previously promised, Volkswagen began to collect pre-orders for the VW ID.3 electric car. Residents of European countries can go to the following link and reserve their own copy by paying a deposit of € 1,000 for the special version ID.3 1STit will be released in a limited edition of 30,000 copies.
This version is equipped with a battery "medium" capacity (58 kWh) with a power reserve of 420 km, which according to the manufacturer's expectations will be most popular with buyers. Volkswagen noted that it would be possible to choose three variants of batteries with a capacity of 45 kWh, 58 kWh and 77 kWh respectively with a power reserve of 330 km, 420 km and 550 km on the WLTP cycle.
The cheapest version of VW ID.3 starts in Germany with € 30,000, with the first batch of ID.3 1ST costs around € 40,000. During the first year, owners of the special version can charge their electric car for free on any public charger connected to the We Charge service and the IONITY high-speed charging network (up to 2000 kWh).
The series production of ID.3 will start at the end of this year, the first buyers will receive their electric car & # 39; s mid 2020. The model will be available in four colors and three versions of equipment: ID.3ST with basic equipment, voice control and navigation; ID.3 1ST Plus with IQ LED headlights. Light and two-tone exterior / interior design; ID.3 1ST Max with panoramic roof and the most advanced equipment, including augmented reality projection display.
Pre-orders are already available in 29 European countries (Ukraine is not one of them), and the choice for a specific configuration is only possible after the official announcement of the model at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 12 September. The order can be canceled up to the spring of 2020 without losing the deposit. Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the UK and Austria are considered the most important markets in Volkswagen. The company plans on average to provide customers with more than 100,000 ID.3 electric vehicles per year.
