Air Tanzania resumed its flights to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda after a decade of absence.
The airline expanded its services to Entebbe Airport with its inaugural flight on Sunday, August 26, 2018, during which they touched the 76-seater Q400-series aircraft at 13:01 pm.
The airline, which rejuvenated its glorious flights 2 years ago, after years of rest, flies mainly in its own country to Mbeya, Dodoma, Songea, Mwanza, Tabora, Kigoma, Mtwara and Bukoba.
It has only one international flight to Moroni on the Comoros.
Air Tanzania landing at Entebbe International Airport, marked the second international flight, which would take flights to Entebbe four times a week.
It charges $ 363 for a return ticket to Entebbe, which flies on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The airline has plans to launch new routes to Bujumbura, Harare, Johannesburg and Lusaka, after which they will consider the Rwanda and Nairobi routes.
Aggrey Bagiire Ugandan Secretary of State Transport said that this is a huge step towards facilitating connections between East African countries and that it will stimulate trade between the two countries.
The Tanzanian ambassador in Uganda confirmed that Air Tanzania will offer affordable high-frequency flights via Entebbe International Airport up to a total of 4 times a week. He was optimistic that the arrival of Air Tanzania to the Entebbe route would meet the travel needs of East Africans.
"In addition to low rates, Air Tanzania also offers customers the opportunity to tailor their journey to their needs and budget by allowing excess baggage and issuing tickets that do not expire," he added.
The Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania; Scary. Ladislaus Matindi stated in a statement that the Wings of Kilimanjaro was proud to serve East Africa with direct flights and smooth connections to and from Tanzania.
"The service will increase the chances of investment, trade and tourism in the region," said Matindi.
Air Tanzania is the national airline of Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam, with the international airport Julius Nyerere as its hub.
It was founded in 1977 and has been a member of the African Airlines Association since its inception. Air Tanzania is a 100% public company that has served various national, regional and international destinations over the years.
The airline has a fleet of 5 carefully selected aircraft including a Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner to meet performance, reliability and comfort.
In the fourth quarter of this year Air Tanzania connects via Dar es Salaam with Mumbai-India, Johannesburg, Bangkok and Guangzhou-China and Harare.
