TWO Chibuwe High School & # 39; O & # 39; -graduate students in the Chipinge district were taken to court on Monday for allegedly leaking two Zimbabwe School Examination Council papers.
The duo, which because of its age can not be named, appeared before the magistrate, Mr. Vuso Gapara.
They are accused of violating section 35 (a) of the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) chapter 25:18 which criminalizes someone who has unlawful access to research material. They were not asked to plead and will appear before the court on a date to be advised by the state.
It was the case of the state under the leadership of Mr. Themba Dhliwayo that on October 26 last year around 2 pm the accused candidates were at Zimbuisc High School for the ordinary English level 2.
"In the course of the investigation, an invigilator Mariah Mafanise captured one Casper Mlambo with a small piece of paper with research material that resembled the question that was asked in the relevant time.
"Mafanise then quickly advised the examination committee at school and a study was conducted to identify the defendant who had research material for History Paper 2 and Shona Paper 2 in a Samsung smartphone he used", he said.
Mr. Dhliwayo said, on further interrogations, the culprit then implied his accomplice as the owner of the smart phone.
"The second accused revealed that they shared the exam material with 15 other students who received the exam material via a WhatsApp group platform.
"An official report was drawn up that led to the arrest of the two defendants and the restoration of the smartphone with the research material.The exam material was printed from the repaired telephone and can be produced for the court as an exposition", says mr. Dhliwayo.
