A golden panner of Esigodini reportedly defeated his 15-year-old daughter with a "car tire whip" after discovering she had a boyfriend.
Mandlenkosi Maphosa (38) of Tshakambeba Village would have smacked his daughter, Lubelihle Maphosa, leaving bleeding wounds all over her body.
A court heard that the minor died in agony five days later after Maphosa refused to take her to the hospital and kept her hidden in his home.
Maphosa reportedly reported a false message to the police stating that she had been attacked by unknown attackers.
Maphosa was not asked to plead when he appeared shortly before the provincial magistrate of Gwanda, Mr Maphios Moyo, who had committed murders. He was in pre-trial detention until September 3.
The prosecution, Ms. Teererai Mahohoma, said Maphosa flogged his daughter on 13 August.
"On 13 August Maphosa hit his daughter several times with a band-beaten whip all over the body as a way to reprimand her for having a boyfriend, she sustained injuries from the attack and Maphosa concealed what he had done by refuse to take her to the hospital.
