The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association yesterday beat the United States government for expanding its sanction regime on land, with the aim of causing distress among ordinary citizens.
The ZNLWVA Secretary-General Cde Victor Matemadanda, who addressed a press conference, also struck the MDC Alliance directors, Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti, and urged the West to pursue their sanctions policy towards Zimbabwe to continue.
He called for the renaming of Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, saying that the former president was no longer suitable to be named after the airport. The war veterans are expected today to hand over the petition to the government.
The US recently extended their sanctions against Zimbabwe after signing an amended version of the Zimbabwe Democritation Recovery Act (Zidera).
"Zimbabwe has consciously taken a stand in the new dispensation to promote international re-entry with all countries," Cde Matemadanda said.
"However, America, because of its hegemonic tendencies, has struck us in the face by the extension of sanctions under Zidera.While it claims to be a leader in democracy and dialogue, America wants to force blood from poor countries of the world. & # 39;
Cde Matemadanda said that the US had no moral grounds to tell the world about democracy and human rights, because it was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people by sponsoring wars.
"While it pretends to be a leader in democracy and dialogue, America really wants to squeeze blood out of the world's poor countries," he said. "They blindly look at mass murders in Palestine and the entire Middle East, they do not give up life, they only care about their international hegemony."
Cde Matemadanda said, while respecting the US, they condemned the mentality of his big brother in dealing with other nations.
"We respect America, but we do not want the big brother's mentality to retain international hegemony, we do not want that," said Cde Matemadanda.
"If America starts to act like this, then we will call on our government to say that we must make every effort to involve America, we want to appeal to people who respect us, people who take us as people, we are no longer slaves to America. . "
Cde Matemadanda said that they were willing to die in defense of the country's independence.
"We did not get this independence on a silver platter," he said. "We have made it through the barrel of the gun and we have not lost our guns, we have our weapons, we can defend our revolution at any time."
Cde Matemadanda condemned the MDC Alliance leaders and their lawyer, lawyer Thabani Mpofu.
"As war veterans, we also want to condemn traitors Chamisa, Thabani Mpofu and Biti, who have gone to the West to invite the expansion of economic sanctions against Zimbabwe," he said.
"Although we welcome the democratic ideas of opposition political parties, we condemn in the strongest possible terms the political approach of the three who have decided to perpetuate untold suffering for the people of Zimbabwe by calling on America to expel Zidera. and to maintain sanctions have been the cause of the economic stagnation that Zimbabwe has withstood in the last 20 years. "
Cde Matemadanda said that Zimbabwe was prepared to cooperate with other countries on an equal basis.
"Zimbabwe may not want to worry about re-engaging America, but all other countries that are willing to work with us on the basis of mutual respect," he said. "We are indeed open to business, but not to be misused."
When renaming the airport, Cde Matemadanda said that Mr Mugabe was a sale that was not deserved to be honored. Formerly called Harare International Airport, the facility was renamed to the former president following recommendations from the former Zanu-PF Youth League led by Kudzai Chipanga.
"We are going to demand that the name Robert Mugabe be removed from the international airport in Harare," he said.
"Tomorrow we are going to the international airport of Harare to remove the dirty name Mugabe Mugabe has failed The face of Zimbabwe to the world can not get the name of a traitor at the last moment We do not want that.
"We will hand over our petition so that the name of Mugabe is removed with immediate effect at the airport, he does not deserve it because he has taken a betrayal, he went astray and chose an unfair marriage with MDC. Not to Robert Mugabe to Harare International Airport to demand the removal of that name because Mugabe is a last-minute traitor, we want names of our heroes, not a sale The name Robert Gabriel Mugabe will be remembered for a leader who gave up his flock to ravens. "
Previously, Cde Matemadanda had met Mr. Nelson Chamisa, leader of the MDC alliance, because he collaborated with Mr. Mugabe.
"Although we do not want to interfere in the internal affairs and management of the MDC, we believe that it is up to the real MDC people to get up and recover their party from Chamisa, who now abuses and collaborates with failed politicians such as Robert and Grace Mugabe, Job Sikhala, Tendai Biti, and Welshman Ncube, and many others who were either dumped or dumped by the MDC when Tsvangirai was still alive, he must turn into his grave, "he said.
He added that it was ironic that Mr. Chamisa warmed himself up against the Mugabes when he condemned them last November during the launch of Operation Restore Legacy.
"As for the Mugabes, the naivety of Chamisa is revealed by the fact that during the revolution of November the young man accompanied us in condemning Mugabe who caused the disappearance of MDC activists like Itai Dzamara," he said.
"Suddenly, Mugabe has become a saint and a darling of Chamisa, so we say he can not get support from real MDC people."
