Next week it will be a particularly busy period for Fortnite. Not only will it mark the start of the recently announced High Stakes event, Epic Games will also roll out Fortnite's new 5.40 patch and it looks like it will make some major changes to the popular generous battle game.
The studio outlined some of the incoming changes in a new one developer update. Firstly, the 5.40 patch makes the storm somewhat different. Specifically, the edge of the storm will now cause damage to player structures "in the final stages" of the race. Epic says that this change has been made in an attempt to "provide a bit more dynamic gameplay" during the final part of the game.
In addition, Epic has announced that it will place a new weapon in the safe with the 5.40 update. This time the revolver is vaulted and is effectively removed from the game. "This is part of an initiative to keep the item pool fresh and dynamic," said Epic. Although this means that players can no longer find the weapon, Epic repeats that it can always return to the game in the future.
